Herman James is a painter whose work in oil and acrylic engages the human figure and landscape through a distinctly surrealist lens. His practice builds upon the foundations of surrealism while exploring contemporary interpretations of form and place.

Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, James has lived and worked in New York and Boston, and currently resides in Port Townsend, Washington.
